Held in Heaven: When Connection Becomes Undeniable

There are moments when something holds you before you understand what it is.

Not through words.
Not through explanation.
But through a quiet certainty that you are not alone.

Held in Heaven began with that feeling.

THE PAINTING

This painting shows a woman standing beside a white horse, her eyes closed, not in withdrawal, but in trust.

The horse does not simply accompany her. It meets her.

There is no tension, no need to reach or ask. The connection is already there, fully formed, existing beyond the visible.

Above them, light descends, soft but present. It does not overwhelm. It surrounds.

Within that light, golden threads begin to appear, subtle at first, moving between them, forming the early structure of what I describe as God’s Rope.

A connection that is not created in a single moment, but revealed over time.

The clouds open rather than close. The figures do not sit within them, they emerge from them, held within something greater.

THE MEANING OF THE HORSE

Horses have long carried a symbolic role across cultures, often associated with movement, strength, and guidance.

But in this work, the horse is not a symbol in the traditional sense.

It is a presence.

A being that recognises something in the human that is not always visible to others.

There is a quiet intelligence in horses, a sensitivity to what is felt rather than what is shown. They respond to energy, to stillness, to truth.

In this painting, the horse is not leading. It is not following.

It is meeting.

THE THREAD AND THE LIGHT

The golden threads in my work represent connection.

Not imagined, not decorative, but something that exists whether we acknowledge it or not.

In Held in Heaven, these threads begin to take form more clearly.

They move through the light, into the figures, linking presence to presence.

They are not rigid. They are fluid, responsive, alive.

The light itself is not symbolic of something distant or unreachable. It is close. It arrives quietly, without force.

It does not ask to be believed in.

It simply appears.

A TURNING POINT IN THE SERIES

This painting marks a shift in the God’s Rope series.

In earlier works, the connection is subtle, often hidden, something to be sensed rather than seen.

Here, it becomes visible.

Not fully formed, but undeniable.

This is the moment where the thread begins to reveal itself.

THE FEELING IT HOLDS

This is not a painting about action.

It is about stillness.

About what happens when you stop trying to understand, and instead allow yourself to feel.

There is trust here.

Not the kind that is built through logic, but the kind that arrives quietly, and once recognised, does not leave.

REFLECTION

Sometimes, you do not realise you are being held until you stop resisting it.

And in that moment, something shifts.

Not outside of you.

But within.

Debbie

I am a spiritual painter guided by a golden thread that connects animals, soul, and God. Through my paintings I reveal animals as mirrors, maps, and messengers - each one a sacred whisper from heaven.
