In the Making Entry - The Softest Recognition
May 2026
Painting Title: The Softest Recognition
WIP Stage: 30%
Canvas Size: 30 × 4inches
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Theme: Recognition
Series: God’s Rope - Chapter One
There are moments with animals that ask for nothing.
No performance. No explanation. No words.
Only presence.
The Softest Recognition began from that quiet understanding, the kind that happens before thought catches up. A cat leaning closer, not out of obedience or need, but because trust has already been felt.
This second layer has been about atmosphere and restraint rather than detail. Allowing the light to emerge slowly. Letting the forms remain soft enough that the emotional connection stays central.
I am not interested in painting ownership over animals. I am interested in recognition. The silent moment where two beings acknowledge each other completely, without force.
The painting is still evolving, but the feeling at its centre is already there.
A quiet meeting.
A shared stillness.
A softness that chose to stay.
Series Context - God’s Rope
This work sits in Chapter One of the series.
It is where the first recognitions are realised.
This is where the bond exists in its simplest form.
Unconditional.
Unspoken.
Constant.
