Original Oil and Mixed Media Painting with Liquid Gold | 2021

Tears of Gold was created during a period when I was exploring how to express my feelings about animal cruelty and persecution through painting.

I have always found it difficult to accept the suffering inflicted upon animals, particularly those whose beauty and strength should inspire our protection rather than exploitation.

At the time, I was searching for a way to communicate these feelings without creating images that were overwhelmingly sad or distressing.

Through vibrant colour, expressive marks and touches of liquid gold, I wanted to celebrate the tiger's beauty and dignity while acknowledging the suffering that so many animals endure.

The contrast between the tiger's steady gaze and the energetic background reflects my attempt to bring beauty and a difficult subject together in one painting.
