2022 | Original Oil Painting
12 × 16 inches | Oil on canvas board
Early Works Collection, 2018–2024
Untamed is an expressive portrait of a lion, painted in rich earthy tones, with a flowing mane of burnt orange, ochre and gold against a dark background.
Created in 2022, this painting belongs to a period when I was exploring my fascination with animals through art, without yet knowing exactly what I wanted my paintings to say.
I was experimenting with colour, movement, texture and expression, drawn instinctively to the presence and character of the animals I chose to paint.
Looking back, these early works represent an important stage in my development as an artist. Although I had not yet discovered the visual language that would eventually become The Golden Threads, my connection with animals was already at the heart of what I wanted to explore.
An original oil painting from my Early Works Collection, offered unframed.
Product title: Untamed
Collection: From the Studio, Earlier Works
Year: 2022
Medium: Oil on canvas board
