2024 | Original Oil Painting
12 × 16 inches | Oil on canvas board
Early Works Collection, 2018–2024
A Place of His Own is a portrait of my cat Oreo, curled up asleep amongst the pillows and soft folds of a bed.
There is something particularly comforting about watching an animal sleep peacefully, completely relaxed and secure in its surroundings.
I have always loved these ordinary moments with the animals who share my home. They may seem unremarkable, but they are often the moments that stay with us, the quiet companionship that becomes such an important part of everyday life.
In this painting, Oreo rests amongst soft lavender and purple bedding, his small black and white form almost disappearing into the folds.
Created in 2024, this painting reflects my growing interest in capturing not only the appearance of animals, but also the everyday moments of affection, trust and familiarity that make our relationships with them so special.
An original oil painting from my Early Works Collection, offered unframed.
