Early Works Collection, 2018–2024
A Little Love is a small still life exploring how an ordinary object can tell a story.
I created this painting in 2024 while studying with the artist Stefan Baumann, during a period when I was concentrating on understanding light and developing my ability to tell stories through painting.
Rather than simply painting a doughnut as I found it, I arranged and photographed the subject myself, using the jam filling to create the shape of a heart.
I wanted to explore how something as simple and familiar as food could represent an emotion, in this case, love.
The dark background and warm light draw attention to the doughnut, while its reflection adds another dimension to the composition.
Although very different from the animal paintings I was developing at the time, this work represents an important part of my artistic education, learning how light, composition and symbolism can transform an everyday subject into something more meaningful.
