King - The Lion Who Remembered
There are stories that roar, and stories that whisper.
This is the story of a lion - not just rescued, but remembered.
A soul crowned by heaven, not performance.
He was born for something greater than the cage.
I painted this lion in silence - not the kind that is empty, but the kind that is listening.
Listening to the ache in his eyes, the story his body still held.
A lion, once bound in an illegal circus. Forced to perform, to roar on command.
And yet beneath the noise, his soul remembered stillness, dignity, and the wild.
This painting, King - The Lion Who Remembered, is part of my God’s Rope series -
a body of work where animals are not just subjects, but sacred messengers.
Their golden threads connect them to me - and through me, to you.
And together, we’re all pulled gently upward toward God.
When I painted him, I felt something ancient settle in the room.
Not just a lion… but a witness.
A being who had suffered and survived, not with rage, but with a royal stillness.
His crown is not from man. It is divine.
A mark of his endurance - and of his freedom.
🌟 Symbolism:
The golden threads in his mane represent his soul connection to God.
The crown is a sign of divine worth, not performance.
The gaze is both soft and sovereign - a mirror to your own inner strength.
💬 Closing Reflection:
This lion reminds us:
You were never meant to perform for your worth.
You were born crowned.
