Golden Flight — First Light
This week’s work on Golden Flight marks the beginning of something gentle and full of movement. The block-in and first modelling pass are complete, and already the bird’s form is lifting from the canvas with a sense of purpose.
These first hints of golden light and thread work feel like the early notes of a message - not quite spoken, but already understood. Birds have always held a sacred place in my heart. They move so naturally between worlds, slipping through the thin veil with a grace that feels both earthly and celestial.
In this 12x16 oil on canvas, I’m beginning to explore that moment of passage….that quiet, glowing instant where the messenger lifts off and carries something holy with it.
More layers, more light, and the weaving of God’s Rope will follow as this piece grows.
