Have you ever noticed that the animals we’re drawn to are often reflections of who we are - or who we’re becoming?

And those we avoid….sometimes they show us what we’re not ready to face.

There’s a quiet truth in this.

Our Animal Mirrors:

Animals are more than companions. They are reflections. Messengers. Mirrors of our soul.
The ones we feel closest to often carry the values we cherish most deeply.
They echo our inner truths with a softness the world often forgets.

Some animals stir something sacred inside us.
Others make us pause or pull away - because they hold up a part of ourselves we haven’t yet welcomed home.

And for me, the clearest reflection has always been the horse.

Horses: My Guiding Reflection

From the moment I first sat on one at just four years old, I felt something ancient and true.
A knowing. That this creature - so wild and strong and free - could also be gentle, loyal, and wise.

They’ve appeared in every chapter of my life - books, films, dreams, and now, paintings.
They’ve always been there, like quiet guardians of my spirit.

What Horses Teach Me About Myself:

Animals mirror the parts of us we most want to understand.
— Debbie Moylan

They look where they’re going. Horses move forward with purpose.

  • They are strong, in body and presence.

  • They are loyal and kind - but only when you earn their trust.

  • They don’t forget if that trust is broken.

  • They require gentleness, respect, and presence.

To ride a horse is to become one with something wild.
They lend you their power. And in that moment, you’re reminded that your own inner wildness still lives inside you.

A Mythic Bond:

Horses have walked beside us for centuries. They’ve carried our burdens, shared our stories, and watched over us.
They appear in myths for a reason: they are not just creatures of muscle and grace - they are soul companions.

In my God’s Rope series, horses are often divine guides.
I believe they see our golden threads.
And if we meet them with reverence, they may offer us theirs in return.

Final Thought: Who Do You See in the Animals You Love?

So I invite you to pause and ask:

💭 What animals are you drawn to?
💭 What do they reveal about your values?

Maybe they carry your best qualities.
Maybe they’re showing you who you are becoming.
Maybe they’re just here to remind you - you are never alone.

🖋️ Journal Prompt

What qualities do your favourite animals reflect about your soul?
How could you honour those values more in your daily life?

Debbie

I am a spiritual painter guided by a golden thread that connects animals, soul, and God. Through my paintings I reveal animals as mirrors, maps, and messengers - each one a sacred whisper from heaven.
